The Pianist
(Originally titled:
The Music Plays)
The music plays,
Do you hear it?
Can you hear it?
The hammers in the piano hit the strings,
The strings vibrate. Do you see them?
The pianist's fingers hit the ivory keys,
The hammer hits the strings. Do you see it?
The music plays,
Do you hear it?
Can you hear it?
How does he do it? His fingers dance across the keys,
The hammer and strings move with him. Do you see it?
The pianist's knows how to make the keys sing.
The hammer and strings move with his hands. Do you see them?
The music plays.
Do you see it?
Do you feel it?
Do you hear it?

I think I will play with this some more. It is still not where I want it to be. I feel like this could be a really cool poem, but I just am not sure where I want it to go. I know that it isn't where it wants to go, but I have to find that place. Sometimes an idea knows where it's destination is before I do. Funny how that is. I can't really explain it, but I have experienced it many times.
So now on to the old poem. I think this is the last poem I will post from my seventh grade poetry book. The others are just really odd, not good enough, or feel like it is a lost cause. I can feel when a poem has potential and the "rejects" don't have it. I feel bad about it, but that is just how it is.
So here is the old poem.
The Journey
I have traveled this road before.
Its path is well beaten.
I know where to turn off to get back.
But yet does that make it right?
I have climbed this mountain before,
I have reached the peak.
I know where to put my feet and hands.
But yet does that make it right?
I have never seen this road before.
Its path is rough and rocky.
I am far away from home, I'm lost!
This is a new challenge.
I have never climbed this mountain.
The peak seems so high.
I can't find footholds and handholds.
This is a new challenge.

I am going to try to update every day now that I am out of school for the summer. I really want to keep this blog up and not let it die. I really enjoy this. Some days it feels like a chore at first, but then I really get into it. Today was like that, but now I have a hopeful feeling about this journey I am taking.
