Finnally feeling up to posting again

So I am finally starting to feel like myself again. I am still in some pain, but it goes away after I take tylenol or ibuprofen. I get my stitches out on Tuesday and then I will hopefully really feel like myself. So here is the rivised version of Shine Like a Star.

Shine Like a Star

Shine like a star no matter who you are!

Be brave;
 Stand tall.
Face your problems big or small.
Belive in your dreams in order to achieve.

Shine like a star no matter where you are!

Fly up to the sky.
Be yourself and soar high.
Play your music;
Never be queit.
Be all you can be.

Shine like a star no matter who or where you are!

So like I have stated before this poem book is full of revisions. It is something I wish I had continued, but never did. I always revise some poems more than others, but there are those that I just write and ignore. I think that is why I am so glad I started this blog. I am aware that it is not a popular blog, but now I am realizing that being popular is not important. I don't want to be popular, I just want to accomplish my goal. I think that is more important. So anyway here is the new poem.

When the Sun Comes

When the sun comes back out,
Then maybe I won't cry at night.
When the sun comes back out,
Then maybe there will be joy again.

When the sun comes back out,
Then maybe I will sing.
When the sun comes back out,
Maybe I will laugh more.

When the sun comes back out,
Then my life will be changed.
When the sun comes back out,
Then your face I will see.

But only when the sun comes!

Still at it

First off I have to say that I must pat myself on the back for keeping on with this. Second I will most likely only have 1 more post this week. I am getting my wisdom teeth removed on Tuesday so it will be a while before I can post. Partly because of the surgery and partly because of the good drugs I will be on. But I will try to post tomorrow.  I don't know how long it will be before I feel like posting again. I hope it isn't too long.

So anyway here is the newly revised poem. I found that I didn't want to change the words much just wanted to change the stanza form. so here it is...

When Spring Comes

When spring comes the flowers bloom,
the birds sing and gone is gloom.

When spring comes the snow fades,
out come the tress and the cool shade.

When spring comes winter is gone,
here in the night and gone with the dawn.

When spring comes the sun shines,
over the lakes and in the mines.

When springs comes it seems as if you could fly,
with the birds in the sky.

When spring comes your worries fade,
as you sit in the cool shade.

When spring comes the music plays,
it starts at the beginning of the first day.

When spring comes sit in the cool shade,
and listen to natures music play.

So here is the next poem. I have to say that it is hard to tell where a poem is in its final draft in this notebook because I would go back and revise a poem and it could be like 5 or more pages after the first draft. So sometimes it takes me a while to find the "next" poem.

Shine Like a Star

Shine like a star no matter who you are!

Be brave; stand tall.
Face your problems big and small.
Belive in your dreams so you can achieve.

Shine like a star no matter where you are!

Fly up to the sky.
Be yourself and soar high.
Play your music; never be queit.
Be all you can be.

Shine like a star no matter who and where you are!

So as I have already stated, hopefully I will post tomorrow. I will try my hardest. But now I need to go to church.

New Notebook

So I have finished the last notebook. So on to another. I don't know if this the very next one I started, I highly doubt it, but at least I know I started this one when I was in 8th grade. So at least it is somewhat in chronological order.

So here is the revised version of the last poem.

The Journey

I have traveled this road before.
Its path is well trodden.
I know how to get back home.
This is a familiar experience,
Yet does that make it right?

I have climbed this mountain before,
I have reached the peak many times.
I know where to put my feet and hands.
This is a familiar experience,
Yet does that make it right?

I have never seen this road before.
Its path is rough and rocky.
I am far away from home, I'm lost!
It is a new challenge,
Yet does that make it right?.

I have never climbed this mountain.
The peak seems so high.
I can't find footholds and handholds.
This is a new challenge,
Yet does that make it right?

What makes an experience worth while?
Is it one you have already had?
Or a new one?
What is correct?
What is a journey?

So here is the first entry of the notebook. This notebook has 170 poems. A long time ago I gathered all my poetry notebooks and counted all the poems I had. I then wrote how many were in each one and so this one has 170. So we may be on this notebook for a while. Of course I may not revise all of them. There are some I can't do because it is hard enough to read them. Some of the poems in here were written when I was going through a tough time in my life and I don't think they should be revised anyway. They are to emotional to touch.

So anyway here is the first poem.

When Spring Comes

When spring comes the flowers bloom, the birds sing and gone is gloom.
When spring comes the snow fades, out come the tress and the cool shade.
When spring comes winter is gone, here in the night and gone with the dawn.
When spring comes the sun shines, over the lakes and in the mines.

When springs it seems as if you could fly, with the birds in the sky.
When spring comes your worries fade, as you sit in the cool shade.
When spring comes the music plays, it starts at the bigging of the first day.
When spring comes sit in the cool shade, and listen to natures music play.

Old poem, new title.

So the last old poem I posted took a different turn in the revision process. I guess that happens at times. It still has part of the old poem, but I like the new version. So here it is.

The Pianist
(Originally titled:
 The Music Plays)

The music plays,
Do you hear it?
Can you hear it?

The hammers in the piano hit the strings,
The strings vibrate. Do you see them?
The pianist's fingers hit the ivory keys,
The hammer hits the strings. Do you see it?

The music plays,
Do you hear it?
Can you hear it?

How does he do it? His fingers dance across the keys,
The hammer and strings move with him. Do you see it?
The pianist's knows how to make the keys sing.
The hammer and strings move with his hands. Do you see them?

The music plays.
Do you see it?
Do you feel it?
Do you hear it?

I think I will play with this some more. It is still not where I want it to be. I feel like this could be a really cool poem, but I just am not sure where I want it to go. I know that it isn't where it wants to go, but I have to find that place. Sometimes an idea knows where it's destination is before I do. Funny how that is. I can't really explain it, but I have experienced it many times.

So now on to the old poem. I think this is the last poem I will post from my seventh grade poetry book. The others are just really odd, not good enough, or feel like it is a lost cause. I can feel when a poem has potential and the "rejects" don't have it. I feel bad about it, but that is just how it is.

So here is the old poem.

The Journey

I have traveled this road before.
Its path is well beaten.
I know where to turn off to get back.
But yet does that make it right?

I have climbed this mountain before,
I have reached the peak.
I know where to put my feet and hands.
But yet does that make it right?

I have never seen this road before.
Its path is rough and rocky.
I am far away from home, I'm lost!
This is a new challenge.

I have never climbed this mountain.
The peak seems so high.
I can't find footholds and handholds.
This is a new challenge.

I am going to try to update every day now that I am out of school for the summer. I really want to keep this blog up and not let it die. I really enjoy this. Some days it feels like a chore at first, but then I really get into it. Today was like that, but now I have a hopeful feeling about this journey I am taking.

I'm back again...

Ok so this whole self-discipline thing is something I really need to work on. I guess it is a weakness I have. Well anyways here is the revised version of the poem I posted like almost a month ago. Better late than never...right?

The Bird's Song (Revised)

A little bird perches on a tree limb.
It's brilliant colors arrayed all over it's feathers.
Green and yellow and al the shades in between.
So simple, so serene, it begins to
sing.

The bird's little melody fills the air.
It carries over the rushing river,
Through the gentle breeze that brushes past my face.
It sings.

The song's melody is so sweet.
I wish I knew the words, but I know that
I can still hum along.
We sing.

Oh, how I love to hear the bird's song.
It makes this beautiful day even better.
So I sit and listen to the bird
Sing.

The Music Plays

The music plays, do  you hear it, can you hear it?
The hammers in the piano hit the strings.
The musicians fingers hit the keys. Do you see them?
The music plays, do you hear it, can you hear it?

How does he do it? You hear the music.
He plays softly, he plays quickly, he plays well.
The musicians fingers hit the keys. Do you see them?
The music plays, do you hear it, can you hear it?

The singers sing their song in unison with the piano.
The music and song joined to create beauty.
I can't sit still, I want to get up and dance.
The music plays, do you hear it, can you hear it?

The singers, the pianist, the music!
The music is getting better with each key hit.
Each key hit by each instrument of music.
The music plays, do you hear it, can you hear it?

Well until next time. Maybe it will be soon. Cross your fingers.

So that failed horribly.

So that was a failure. I can't believe that I messed up so fast. Well anyway I will try to do better. I promise. All I can do is try... right?

Well I haven't revised the last poem yet so I just thought I would post one of my favorite poems. This poem has been published. I love it.

The Perfect Evening

The waves crash on the shore and in the horizon you can see the most beautiful sight of  all.

The seagulls fly and the dolphins jump to see the colors come together. Everything blends so well.

The sunset shines bright over all the beach.  No factor is left out; no factor is small.

The colors so bright and nature is so happy this evening  no words really can tell.

The ocean calls out as its rhythm breaks on the shore, "come, come, come to the sunset."

The whole beach is so calm. All the seagulls and fish  are saying  relax and the dolphin  rejoices.

The best is yet to come this is only the beginning for as the sunset shines brighter you begin to rest.

The sunset shines over all the beach  and down inside you hear a voice.

The voice calls you to run across the beach into the mighty waves and you just start to sing.

The song you have kept inside for all of your life you sing over all the waves, now you feel free and fly.

The song reaches all that you love far, near, everywhere  now you feel the summer air brushes against your face

The summer breeze reminds you of why you are here on the earth and you reach out you wings and fly.

You fly up in the sky and listen as the voice of the sea says  "come, come, come, to the sunset."

You go and see that the sunset is all the things that you have always wanted, the beauty and the grace.

The sunset is you deep down inside and  you  don't worry about life just fly and your heart rests.

You fly over all the oceans to the ones you love and you see the sunset in their  faces.

You let out the song that you have been holding  in for your whole life waiting for the perfect evening.

Then you fly back and fly over  the sand; let the song fly over all the shore.

The seagulls fly above and you realize the beauty of all things and reach you hand out for this is the perfect evening.

You sing and sing until your heart can let out no more song and you rest on the shore.

For what else would you do on the perfect evening in the perfect place.

well I will try to post later. Hopefully tomorrow.

Waiting is worth the while...

Again I am sorry it has been so long. The semester is nearing the end and so things have become a bit hectic. So here are the poems. I am hoping to post everyday this week until Monday. Maybe I can still keep this up even after then, but I'm not holding my breathe.

Teachers

Teachers are special people.
They take students under their wings,
And teach them how to fly.

I have had several teachers over the years,
And all have touched my life in various ways.
Some have taught me the standard things,
While others have taught me more important things.

These are the teachers I remember the most.
They have taught me life skills.
They have done more than most teachers.

I will always keep these people close to me.
I hope to be a teacher like that.
I want to teach my students more than their ABCs.
I want to be a role model for them.

The Bird's Story

The bird sings its little song.
The breeze blows its little burst of wind
The mighty river runs with a strong current.
But still the bird sings its song.

The little bird sings his song.
He stops to take a breathe.
Then he sings it with gladness.
I can't speak his tongue but I know what he says.
He tells of a story that no one has told.

I don't know the story but the bird stills sings.
I guess as long as the bird sings the story will be told.

Until Next time....
